Am 18. Oktober waren Washington und die Touristenattraktionen dort unser Ziel. Unser erster Stopp war Mount Vernon, George Washingtons Residenz. Wir wurden durch das Haus geführt und hatten im Anschluss eine Stunde Zeit, um in kleinen Gruppen das Gelände zu erkunden.Als nächstes besuchten wir das Pentagon Memorial und schauten die, den Opfern des 9/11 gewidmeten, Bänke an. Nach der Fahrt durch Washington, hielten wir am Weißen Haus und hatten, nach dem Vorbeigehen, anderthalb Stunden Zeit, um -auch hier- die umgebenden Gedenkstätten, wie die des Zweiten Weltkrieges, und das Monument in Washington zu besichtigen. Danach fuhr Mike, unser Fahrer, uns zum Capitol, wo wir ungefähr 15 Minuten zum Bilder Machen hatten. Am Ende von diesem ereignisreichen Tag hielten wir, um in einem Restaurant unserer Wahl zu Abend zu essen.

On the 18th of October our group’s destination was Washington and its tourist attractions. Our first stop was Mount Vernon, George Washington’s residence. We toured through the house itself and then had one hour to split up into smaller groups and explore for ourselves. Next up was the Pentagon Memorial. We stopped for a while and looked at the benches dedicated to those who died at 9/11. As we drove through Washington, we were dropped off at the White House and bypassed it by foot. After that, we, once more, had time to group up and wander around to look at the surrounding memorials, such as the Second World War Memorial, and the Washington Monument. Afterwards our driver Mike took us to the Capitol where we had roughly 15 minutes to walk up the stairs and take pictures. At the end of this eventful day we stopped to get dinner at a restaurant of our choice.
